About me
I have always had an interest in psychology and in exploring
the ways of the human mind; what makes us tick, what makes each of us behave
the way we do, how we can modify our way of thinking and our behaviours in
order to achieve a happier and more fulfilling life.
Following a sometimes bumpy road on the path of
self-discovery and self-development, after having experienced the benefits of
hypnotherapy in my own life, I decided to train as a hypnotherapist to finally
fulfil my yearning for knowledge on these subjects and to share this wonderful
experience with others.
I trained at the well-respected EICH (Essex Institute of
Clinical Hypnosis), with Terence Watts, an internationally recognized therapist
and trainer, highly esteemed in his profession both in the UK and abroad.
I gained diplomas in Clinical Hypnotherapy with Psychotherapy
and Advanced Hypnoanalysis, and learned advanced techniques for the treatment
of most psychological, emotional and behavioural issues. I am also committed to
continuous professional development and regularly attend lectures and
workshops.
Amongst others, I trained in Emotional Freedom Technique
(EFT), Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Educational Kinesiology (Edu K),
Inner Child work, Soul Retrieval, OCD and Anxiety Disorders, Parts Therapy.
I am a member of APHP (Association for Professional Hypnosis
and Psychotherapy), membership requires high standard of training, continuous
professional development, and adherence to a strict code of practice. For full
details visit www.aphp.co.uk
As all other registered professionals, I have full indemnity
insurance.

About Hypnosis
Despite what its name might suggest and contrary to popular
belief, hypnosis is not a state of ‘sleep’ or unconsciousness but a conscious
state of deep relaxation and focused thinking.
Even though within the therapeutic setting hypnosis is
induced or facilitated by the therapist, the hypnotic state is actually a very
natural one, which we all spontaneously experience many times everyday; in
those few moments between sleep and wake, in day-dreaming, watching a film,
reading a good book, listening to a sermon, driving…
During this state of focused relaxation, the client is fully
aware of his/her surroundings and totally in control of her own body and
mind. There is no loss of consciousness
or control at any time, nor a sleep like state.
Whilst hypnosis can be very pleasant and extremely relaxing,
it cannot in itself produce many benefits; it is the job of the therapist to
facilitate positive change by applying appropriate therapy.
About Therapy
Hypnotherapy is a safe and effective technique used to treat
many emotional, psychological and behavioural problems. Whilst most other therapies work on an
intellectual level on the conscious mind, hypnotherapy bypasses the client’s
rational mind by the use of hypnosis and works directly with the client’s
subconscious. As this is where we store
information, memories and other functions that determine the way we think and
act, this type of direct work can bring fast, easy and long lasting changes.
Hypnosis has been used for centuries and in different
civilisations. Nowadays hypnotherapy is recognised as an effective
complementary therapy treating many ‘complaints’, even in many branches of
orthodox medicine.
Two main type of therapy are used, depending on the
presenting issue.
Suggestion therapy is generally
used to deal with issues such as exam fear, driving test nerves, smoking
cessation, nail biting, unwanted behaviours, stress, etc.
Analytical Therapy is used for more
deep-rooted problems, working to find and remove the underlying causes of
present issues such as phobias, relationship difficulties, lack of confidence,
anxiety, unhappiness and most other psychological problems.
Other therapies and techniques might be used during the
session, according to the presenting issues and considering what is right and
most effective for each client.
